Tokyo Smoke has opened a licensed cannabis dispensary on West Queen West, marking the upmarket pot brand’s fifth storefront in the city and third to carry cannabis.

Located at 1180 Queen West, the dispensary opened its doors on March 12, a year after Tokyo Smoke’s flagship Yonge and Dundas location launched. The brand plans to open another nine shops throughout Ontario in 2020.

“[Licensee] Chris Decock knew there was an appetite in this area for immersive retail shopping experiences, and chose our brand to bring this experience to this community,” Melissa Gallagher, director of franchising, tells NOW.

Much like its predecessors, the space is bright and highly stylized in Tokyo Smoke’s signature minimalist branding. The company partnered with the Toronto strategic design consultancy Jackman Reinvents to help shape not only the shop’s aesthetic but the customer experience.

The store carries an array of products from softgels and oils to a large stock of edibles and dried flower products, along with countless accessories, including lighters, pipes, cloud mist and rolling papers.

Prices currently range from $8 to $18 per gram, with cannabis-infused chocolate ranging from $11 to $12.

The company plans to regularly host events, like an upcoming latte art throwdown, and Higher Learning workshops with “education specialists” on hand to teach Cannabis 101 and answer any questions customers might have about cannabis consumption.

Along with two other cannabis retail locations, Tokyo Smoke also has two coffee shops in Toronto. Since its first storefront opened in 2015, it has also expanded to Calgary and Manitoba.
