Spyder Cannabis Inc. has announced the launch of a new brand that speaks to its focus on serving emerging markets in Canada.

It’s called Offside Cannabis.

Sypder CEO Christina Pan explains in a media release that the company aims to serve “big-city-adjacent communities, rather than upper, mid, or downtown core consumers”.

“We’re ‘off-to-the-side’ of those markets, as well as the industry as a whole,” Pan said in the release Thursday (October 14).

Moreover, the Concord, Ontario-based company operates as “an outlier, while also being focused on community building”.

Hence, “We’re Offside, which means we’re on your side,” Pan said.

Spyder owns two stores in Pickering and Niagara Falls, both in Ontario.

Both locations are branded as SPDR Cannabis, and these will be replaced with the new Offside Cannabis name.

Additionally, Spyder operates 28 vape retail locations across the province under the name 180 smoke.

The October 14 media release indicates that Sypder plans to open more cannabis stores.

The company is publicly traded on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol SPDR.

As of this post, SPDR shares are trading at $0.20 each.
