Hip-hop duo Run the Jewels consists of rap veterans Killer Mike and EL-P. The pair take on politics and commentary about life in America through more of a socialist lens. Killer Mike is a big supporter of Bernie Sanders and has consequently appeared at a number of his rallies. The rapper has also been on major news outlets like CNN, speaking about the former presidential candidate as well as being very vocal on the racial divide in the United States.

The duo just released their latest album RTJ4 on June 3. If that didn’t make their fans happy enough, though, they have also announced that they are releasing a new strain of cannabis called Ooh LA LA. This strain is in collaboration with Lemonnade, one of hip-hop’s most popular weed companies, and in partnership with Cookies. The Ooh LA LA strain is aptly named after their hit single by the same name from RTJ4. The single features Greg Nice of the hip-hop duo Nice & Smooth, who sings the hook, and DJ Premier, who provides the scratches.

On a side note, “Ooh LA LA” takes samples from Gangstarr’s “DWYCK” featuring Nice & Smooth as well as the famous “Oh La La” bar from Greg Nice. So it was a great touch to include Premier and Nice on the new single.

The sativa-dominant strain—grown by Growing Passion—will have hints of lemon and berries. Run the Jewels is one of the more creative hip-hop duos out today, and because of that, they intend this bud to be an uplifting high that invokes creativity instead of a lethargic body high you would find in indica-dominant strains.

The Run the Jewels line will include pre-rolls, vapes, extracts, and blunts, but there is no release date set yet. However, Lemonnade’s Instagram post states that the full line of Ooh LA LA products is coming soon.

Once released, the line will be available at all Cookies locations, as well as Lemonnade Sacramento.
