Just like coffee drinkers, tokers are going to have more choices when shopping for cannabis bud.

They can have it either whole or ground.

Organigram Inc. announced Thursday (September 17) the launch of a line of pre-shredded cannabis bud. The product carries the name SHRED.

In a new release, the New Brunswick company stated that the new offering seeks to provide “additional consumer convenience”.

“Product quality and customer value have been important pillars of Organigram’s product and growth strategies since its inception,” Organigram CEO Greg Engel said.

SHRED comes in three pre-shredded cannabis bud varieties. These include Tropic Thunder, for example, described as a “combination of strains with citrus and tropical aromas”.

Another is Gnarberry, which combines “berry and fruity aromas for a refreshing profile”.

Consumers can also buy Flower Power, a “specially curated sweet and floral blend”.

Organigram stated that the pre-shredded cannabis bud product features a THC amount of 18 percent “or more”. THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol, the main psychoactive compound in weed.

Organigram will package the ready-to-roll cannabis bud with a “two-way humidity system to preserve their unique flavour profiles”.

“Made from whole flower, SHRED contains no shake or trim…,” Organigram stated in the media release.

Weed shake are loose scraps of pot, and smokers consider them of poorer quality than whole cannabis bud.

SHRED provides convenience

The company recalled that based on its recent survey, consumers value convenience when making a purchase. Buyers also appreciate price and quality.

According to Organigram, SHRED “addresses each of these influences”.

To that end, the product is made from “indoor-grown quality whole flower, is conveniently pre-shredded and represents Organigram’s most affordable option (on a per gram basis) yet”.

The producer’s parent company Organigram Holdings Inc. opened trading at the Toronto Stock Exchange on September 17, 2020 at $1.52 a share.

Organigram started in 2013 as a medical cannabis provider. Its recreational brands include Edison Reserve, ANKR Organics, and Trailblazer.

Organigram stated that its SHRED cannabis bud product will start retailing across Canada this month.
