FOX News host Tucker Carlson thinks cannabis reform is about making you an idiot

Tucker Carlson, the FOX News host with a soft spot for white nationalists, has never been a good judge of marijuana policy.
He’s blamed cannabis for mass shootings. Now he’s saying the SAFE Banking Act, which if passed would allow weed companies to deal with major banks, is designed for “weed dealers” – and because Congress “wants you to be dumb.” Yeah, really.
“So in the middle of the deadliest drug epidemic in our history, the only thing Congress can agree on is it ought to be easier to sell drugs to Americans,” he said on his show earlier this week.
Where to begin? The drug epidemic he’s talking about has nothing to do with weed. And the act will not make it easier to sell drugs to Americans. It will only make it easier for some dispensaries to let you use your credit card.
Carlson, who is always game for a good right-wing conspiracy theory, thinks it’s all an example of the Swamp’s corruption.
“One, a small number are getting very rich doing it. The former Republican Speaker is now a weed lobbyist,” he said, referring to John Boehner. “And for another, when you mismanage the country this badly, you want the people to be so out of it they don’t respond. That is really true. They want you to be dumb.”
Maybe it’s Carlson who’s really good at making people stupider.
