The cannabis industry has made a lot of people rich, but it’s only made one guy a billion-dollars rich. Forbes Russia reports that Boris Jordan, chair of the Curaleaf – he owns about a third of the company – is now worth $1.1 billion. It’s the first time the weed industry has reportedly ever produced a billionaire, though it’s not likely to be the last.
Curaleaf is a major player in the U.S. cannabis economy, with more than 45 dispensaries across a number of states. Based in Massachusetts, it’s been listed as the 6th largest cannabis company in the world. Jordan has often referred to Curaleaf as the Starbucks of weed. (But then again, everybody says that.)
