The countdown is on. As of today, edibles are legal to produce in Canada. And companies looking to cash in are racing towards the December 16 date for public sales.

This means consumers are about to be treated to a litany of product roll-outs pushing gummies, chocolates, and beverages.

But Munchy Brothers, a Canadian company, got things off to a bizarre start this week. It wants to sell condiments, including ketchup and mustard, infused with cannabis.

According to the company, it’s “a no stress, no guess, no mess solution to infusing with cannabis at home.”

Munchy Brothers will also be offering cannabis-infused hot sauce, mayonnaise, BBQ sauce, caramel sauce and chocolate sauce.

With little in the way of firm guidelines from Health Canada, however, what exactly will be available is hard to say. Products now need to go through a 60-day review period. And Health Canada hasn’t been clear about what will and will not be approved. Experts estimate the market could be worth as much as $2.7 billion.
