Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, strikes CBD deal
It’s an unusual move since current NFL rules prohibit the use of CBD

Gillette Stadium has inked a deal that will see thousands of people given free CBD samples during NFL games.
The home of the much-reviled New England Patriots has struck a deal with Abacus Health Products. The company specializes in topicals and essential oils made with CBD hemp extract for pain relief. It also partnered with former New England Patriots player Rob Gronkowski earlier this year to promote the wonders CBD as a pain killer.
It’s an unusual deal since current NFL rules prohibit the use of CBD. Under the deal, Abacus won’t actually be able to sell or hand out anything inside the stadium.
But as Forbes explains, “Abacus partnering with the owners of the stadium, rather than the NFL, is a workaround that sends a similarly powerful pro-CBD message, while not running afoul of the league.”
Apparently, the pro-CBD message will be emblazoned on the iconic water tower next to the stadium. The venue also hosts concerts and other events outside the football season.
