As one of its many vernaculars indicates, cannabis is a flower and, like all flowers, it produces terpenes. For the uninitiated, terpenes are the things that give flowers their smell; the thing that is attractive to pollinators; and the thing that keeps predators away. Terpenes are the thing that gives weed the smell that we all love, but often the smell that hangs around a little too long – like a fart in a spacesuit.

Unlike our friend in space, this odor is going to inform everyone in your world that you’ve been smoking a bowl. Everyone isn’t totally chilled about the smell of cannabis and you’re not always going to be smoking on friendly soil. Covert smoking operations are often required when you’re not in a weed-friendly zone. Here are few stoner tips to keep your weed sorties undercover:

Nag Champa Incense

This incense is burned in ashrams and it is worth stocking upon. The scent can vary depending on the brand you choose; some being sweeter than others. It is available in sticks or cones and the smell is considered to be gender-neutral. Nag Champa Incense consists of the following ingredients:

  • Black pepper
  • Cardamon
  • Cassia
  • Cinnamon
  • Flower oils (orange, tea rose, ylang ylang, Campa)
  • Honey
  • Lavander
  • Saffron
  • Sandalwood
  • Strawberry
  • Tree resin
  • Vanilla

Nag Champa’s exotic aroma is not only great for removing the weed smell from your home, the smoke from it also disguises any lingering cannabis smoke.

Patchouli Oil

Patchouli oil is synonymous with concealing the smell of weed. The reason being, it’s great at doing the job. Patchouli oil comes from the flowers of the patchouli plant and it produces a very unique, enduring and pleasant smell.

For best results, mix a few droplets of oil into a pan of simmering hot water (you can also use a diffuser if you have one). Keep the water and patchouli mix simmering while your smoke your bowl and you will have no worries about your house smelling of weed.

Fabreeze Or Some Other Carpet Spray

Most Canadians have at least one type of spray-on fabric cleaner like Fabreeze lying around the house. Well, it doesn’t just get rid of your pets’ smells or your recent visit to the toilet, it’s also great for hiding the scent of weed. Make sure that you have plenty of ventilation and then get medieval on that spray can!

Smoke In The Toilet

Any port will do in a storm and, although it may not be the most relaxing place to do anything (other than taking a shit), the toilet provides plenty of scope to get rid of smoke and other stuff. Most are fitted with a fan, so that pretty much sorts your smoke out. Anything else you need to ditch (matches, reused roaches, papers) can go straight down the pan

Try Using a Sploof

If getting rid of the weed smell is stressing you out so much, you can always try using a spoof. All you need to make one is:

  • Paper towel cardboard roll
  • Rubber band
  • Dryer sheet

Place the dryer sheet around one end of the cardboard roll, securing it with a rubber band. It’s best to fill the volume of the cardboard roll with smoke, so exhaling slowly and steadily is recommended to ensure that the majority of the weed smell is captured.

Smoke in the Shower

Like using the toilet to conceal your weed smoke smell, you can do a similar trick in the shower. Smoke while the shower is running and turn the hot water up to maximum to create plenty of steam. This will dissipate the smell of your weed. Oh yeah, and don’t actually stand inside the shower; that makes it really difficult to light up!

Now you don’t have to know how long does the smell of weed last, you can avoid leaving the smell.
