Full Spectrum Extracts
In its original condition each cannabis plant cultivar, is an accumulation of plants that are chosen for their desirable characteristics that are maintained during propagation. It is considered a basic classification category of cannabis plant.
Among other compounds the cultivar has its own distinctive cannabinoid and terpene profile that contribute to their therapeutic effects. The compunds are found within the plant’s lipid and fat based trichomes. A full spectrum extract is used to encompass the therapeutic compounds of the raw plant when it is being processed. Yet, although the lipids and fats connect the compunds together, they are not required since they do not provide medicinal benefits.
A full-spectrum extract is a cannabis concentrate produced that preserves the full cannabinoid and terpene contents of the original raw cannabis plant. The primary objective of a full-spectrum extract is to maintain the complex range of preferred compounds in a cannabis plant without modifying them through decarboxylation or oxidation. Synonymous with full-spectrum extract are Full Extract Cannabis Oil or Full Spectrum Cannabis Oil which is their most general title. Other terms also widely used for the more popular extracts are High Cannabinoid Full Spectrum Extract, High Terpene Full Spectrum Extract, live resin and sauce.
Placed within the context of cannabis, the term spectrum is used in describing the full spectrum of compounds encompassed which are produced within the trichome gland. The full-spectrum extract’s primary objective is to not alter the trichomes and eliminate the unwanted waxes, fats and lipids that hold the desirable compounds together.
Aside from the ubiquitously well-known cannabinoids THC, CBD etc., the cannabis plant can produce more than 400 compounds. This wide range of compounds may have potentially therapeutic applications. Proteins, esters, phenols and aromatic terpenes are just a few of the compounds that are known to be therapeutic. A full spectrum extract endeavours to seize and retain each of these compounds for human consumption.
Use of Term
The full spectrum extract that I consumed the other day tasted so good that I don’t see myself getting back to smoking regular cannabis again.
