Cannabicyclolic Acid (CBLA)
Cannabicyclolic Acid (CBLA) is considered to be a fairly rare compound that is found in cannabis is non-psychoactive in nature. In its original form, it is cannabichromenic acid (CBCA), but when cannabis is exposed to environment changes such as a difference in light patterns, it turns into cannabicyclolic acid. CBLA is not considered to be an original cannabinoid. It dates back way back to 1972 and not too much is known about it because cannabis doesn’t produce a high amount.
One thing to note is that it is one of the most stable cannabinoid acids to heat. It is also said to be resistant to decarboxylation. Because of that, it creates very low amounts of CBL when it is heated up. CBLA is said to be anti-inflammatory as well as anti-tumor. Compared to the cannabinoids that produce psychoactive effects or have medicinal properties, studies on the ones that don’t prove to have the same beneficial results is fairly low.
Because of this, not as much information is out there in comparison to them either. Scientists choose to spend their time on things that have proven results and tend to stray away from wasting their time on things that don’t display positive results. With over 420 known constituents of cannabis, there are over 60 that are cannabinoids, which belong to terpenophenols. Cannabichromenate (CBCA) is produced by cannabigerol (CBGA) in marijuana plants. CBCA is what produces cannabinoids such as CBC, CBL, and CBLA when they are heated to a certain temperature or aged for a long time.
Use of Term
I think I will stick with THC and CBD for my medical benefits as the lesser known and lesser studied cannabinoids don’t seem to produce results in the same way.
